a Taylored Approach

10/8/2017 0 Comments Feeling the FallIt's hard to believe it's already October and when the sun goes down I'm feeling that Fall chill but during the day, the city is hanging onto Indian Summer. And while a few of my favorite things lately have nothing to do with the change in season or harvest-y colors, it's Autumn via Tay's Approach and I'm sharing what's making my heart happy as I get ready to take on month #10. 1. Mini Pumpkins I've never been a fan of pumpkins, Halloween or orange but as soon as I came across little white ones and a muted tangerine guy, I decided it was necessary to pair alongside some Sunday blooms. A medley of sunflowers, pink petals and raffia sticks is enough to capture the essence of the season. I love the unexpected duo of the white pumpkin and champagne plate on my coffee table. 2. A Pink Felt Letterboard Ok I know. More things that are pink. This weekend between Sushi dates and watching the Blue Angels get in formation, it was time for a bit of redecorating and changing up the office space. I saw this Three Potato Four letter board on Pinterest with the words "Know your worth. Then add tax." I loved it and knew it would be a chic addition to the Taylored Approach office space with a list of my favorite things and words for inspiration. When I need a mental checklist or a quote to pick me up, I can change it depending my mood. Of course, the Flamingo snow globe is still going strong. It's going to take something pretty major to knock her out of desk first place. 3. Fur You guessed it, the second temps drop in the city is when Tay steps up the leather and fur wardrobe. I don't know what it is but when I'm layered in fuzzy goodness, I feel like a boss, even if it's on a Sunday when I'm already in jammies. It's sort of become my signature. Like sequins in summer. The coyote fur has become an accent in my office space with my ghost chair. She fits in well and gets me in the zone. If you see a girl who looks like a small animal on the 30x, you've guessed it, me. TC. 4. This knit pearl sweater I am no prepster by any means and the idea of a cardigan usually makes my skin crawl but when I spotted this gem at Zara, it was the perfect way to mix a little embellishment and patriotic prep without feeling like I was in a J Crew ad. The possibilities are endless with this creamy knit and I'm feeling a vision with a few #ootd ideas. 1) Athleisure with my adidas logoed legging + sneaks or 2) Gap high waisted ripped skinnies and my Gucci red loafers. The perfect mix of polish with a little bit of edge. Stay tuned for her debut. 5. A New Book I am really good at starting books, never finishing them but always seem to gravitate toward ones that somehow relate to growing your career, being a boss or a tale of a designer's life. I find it inspiring and enriching but realize I might need a little fantasy in my life. I recently picked up In the Name of Gucci, well because it will look great with my book collection but more so, Gucci is legendary, especially lately. Instead of blasting the latest Chainsmoker/Kygo song I am obsessed with, it's time to look bookworm worthy on the bus. In true Tay fashion, the Fall love list will continue to grow. Hope your weekend has been full of Fleet Week fun, cute cocktails or if you aren't a city resident, something fall-ish to get you into the seasonal spirit.
Until next time, I'll leave you with my favorite snap from le weekend and my soon to be frequent sunset stoop.

10/1/2017 I Feel GloriousIt's official. A Taylored Approach landed herself a domain. So techie of me right? But it was time to up the ante and make it known with my own .com. The main reservation I had starting a blog was finding the right name. I overthink. I criticize. I get scared. I get "Taylored." So instead of putting the blogging goal off with every excuse in the book, I took a leap this year (a pretty big one) to go with what felt right. Being me. The girl who is accessory obsessed with little things everywhere in her home and is easily thrilled by something as simple as a flamingo snow globe. The girl who struggles with finding balance between work and making time for love. The girl who has no fear being a boss in the office but when it comes to navigating life outside those glass doors, needs a bit of a nudge. This blog is for her. So what is A Taylored Approach? It's a place that is 100% TC. It's always glittery. It will hope to inspire you to let go and live your best life. It's a vision that came to life the day I stood outside that Pink door in 105* heat lathered in sequins. It's my photographic journal. It's a daily reminder that everyone's path is just that... your own. It's my heart. It's my home. What better way to celebrate than with a mini Veuve and the tallest champagne stem ever. It's a chic step up from my Olivia Pope inspired red wine beauties. With Fall vibes in the air, I decided it was time to switch up the fur setup at the TA office with my Vince coyote jacket. When I'm feeling inspired, I cuddle up, play tunes and get in the zone.
A big sequin kiss to those who have been so supportive in encouraging me to make this creative and lifestyle venture a reality. Continue to follow it, share it and let your own approach on all things big and small let you live your best life. 6/21/2017 Pink House of PietroI have a confession and it's probably pretty obvious from my last post... I love millennial pink. I've been super into this hue lately and I seem to find myself stumbling upon it everywhere... pink doors (ok you caught me, I'm actively looking for those), office supplies, restaurant tables; you name it, I'm drawn to it. This obsession feels appropriate for summer and I can't stay away. I'm currently eyeing this letter board which has no business fitting in my studio apartment so I am flirting with the idea of displaying her on my desk @ Gap HQ. The fun will be changing out the letters for a slogan of the week. This week's lettered motto is a tough choice; Get Shit Done or Rose Me Please. When I found out I would be traveling to New York for work, I instantly knew I had to take advantage of this adorable gem on Elizabeth Street. It was the perfect start to a quick 24 hours with one of my besties who recently traded her SF zip code for that of the Upper West Side. It was easy to convince her to stop by this pink heaven for a quick bev before our dinner reservations at ABC Kitchen. Pietro Nolita is Barbie's dream house in adult life. And you guessed it, if I could live in this miniature pink heaven, I totally would. I admit I cheated on Leo's Oyster Bar but I've allowed myself to have a few bicoastal loves. Shhh, don't tell my palm print boyfriend. The petite staircase at Pietro takes you into this bite size pink palace, where everything is covered in this happy shade and even better, the motto, (mom, excuse my language), Pink as Fuck is pure genius. According to Pietro, who we ended up meeting outside as we were leaving, that slogan is all the rage in Italy. I haven't been but I am determined to find out if this is true. Naturally, I had to steal some of the napkins to add to my bar cart. I was feeling pretty in pink after a long week of visiting stores from Manhattan to Harlem to Queen's, so was thrilled when it was go time choosing an outfit, I decided to don a floral Top Shop blouse with my favorite Madewell ripped skinnies. These have become painted on my bod lately as they are oh so comfy and make me feel like I am 5'7, which for most of you that know me, is a very funny dream. I blend in so nicely don't you think! I threw on my favorite Vanessa Mooney choker and my recent Alexander Wang studded splurge. I was ready to roll in that millennial pink madness. Hope the start of your summer is filled with something just as cheeky to offset those sometimes long days at the office. I'm off for a Marina jaunt. Cue the song which my NYC gal has deemed the #songofthesummer. That Carly Rae and Cut to the Feeling... you put a spring in my step.
