11/28/2017 0 Comments I Caymus. I Saw. I Conquered. As soon as I knew I was headed to Caymus Vineyards over Thanksgiving break, this cheesy Instagram headline immediately popped into my brain on my 30x bus ride one gloomy morning. I have to admit, I was proud of myself for the quick wit and you can bet that tagline sat on my cactus notepad for weeks. Talk about cheeky and a warning, silly references are headed your way as I relive my afternoon in the mecca of rouges. On Sunday as it was storming, it was necessary to spend time with my favorite couple, Harry and Sally. The quirky, HB pegged adorable Sally Albright as the worst kind of high maintenance. "You're high maintenance but you think you're low maintenance." Although, I've made it very clear that Blanche ala Golden girls is my spirit animal, my modern day muse is my girl, Sally. I think I got the naivety and charm down. The jury is still out on the ratio of high to low maintenance but I think for those who have known me for some time, this city girl has come a long way. And why bring up this magical yet unlikely couple? The way Harry initially pegged Sally is kind of how I feel about Caymus. It was unexpected for what I had known as a #bougie wine to be a place I could linger, sip wine I weirdly would love to bathe in and was the perfect mix of casual class. Kind of like Sally. It wasn't stuffy. It was a chic scene. It was a serene moment. It was the highlight of my trip and not just because my taste buds were insanely happy. I highly recommend heading to wine country when you need a midweek getaway to clear your head, leave your thoughts behind and be with nature. Can my version of camping be parking myself under greenery soaking in grape goodness? There's a lot of earth tucked into this wine glass which has now become part of my growing bar collection. And you better believe, I couldn't leave without a bottle of Cab. I do wish I could have frolicked in the barrel room. It was chic, mysterious and a place I wanted to get lost. And for the wood boxes, I am waiting for the day I have a house and can create something with these vintage wine beauties from all my favorite sipping scenes. The dream local which you may be able to guess, Veuve, also needs to be featured. I envision cacti and succulents living among this decadent storage. Life would also be a little bit sweeter if I had this array of endless vino options. A Caymus a day? There's another cheesy tagline for you. Those come to me when I don't try so hard. A new hidden talent. As we left with our bougie bottles of red, I passed by this painting and you know what's up next. I immediately picture this gal as the fifth member of Golden Girls. How can she not be? She looks fun, buried in floral and I'm guessing she's the single one of the group based on the framed portraits but nevertheless, she's my kind of gal. If you asked me to get lost among these vineyards like I'm assuming she did, I'm all in. Cheers to chic sipping scenes.
Cheers to scenes that funnily remind me of Harry and Sally. You are #goals. And cheers to December as I sit surrounded in my favorite scene of twinkle lights. To me, you are perfect.
