a Taylored Approach

7/3/2017 Office Space ApproachNo Tahoe trip or livin' la vida Montauk this long weekend but it's been a fall in love with your city kind of break which included redecorating my Chestnut Street studio. More to come on jaunts to quintessential San Francisco spots on my bucket list as well as experiencing the Summer of Love in a future post but for now it's time to talk decor. I am one who tends to have a hard time dealing with change but when it comes to my apartment, it's something I welcome when I feel like I'm in a rut. Reswizzle your space, change your perspective. For those who've had the privilege of visiting this cozy studio, it's become my mecca for overaccessorizing, as I like to call it. Just a few things you can find residing in TC's place; every animal in the zoo, flowers when I feel like treating myself to something pretty and cheeky things to feel like a kid when being a babe approaching her mid-thirties isn't cutting it that week. My love of knick-knacks has been buried deep in my soul thanks to my dear grandmother ML who even in her 70's had an affinity for ceramic cats, basket purses and Disney. I captured this love at an early age as a doe-eyed, toe-head blonde who fell for Donald. I always find it comical because he was the one character no one liked, hence why I fell for the duck who never wore pants. The other trait I am thankful to ML for is my love of retail which is evident the second you walk through my front door. I can't help but have everything displayed, just like a store. To the man who will someday love this quality about me, I'll have my own wing of our house for the treasure trove and closet, I promise. I've been able to find decor swag in the most unexpected places or create it myself. The cactus print is a photo I captured on a trip to La Quinta in Palm Desert last year. Recently, I had to have this brass Lion head doorknocker which yes, I realize should be adorned on a grand front door but for now, he works next to my window to remind me a doorbell isn't necessary. The succulent which I love to find at Home Depot has miraculously lasted for more than a month. Next to my desk is an acrylic cart which I highly recommend to anyone wanting to disguise storage space. The Veuve megaphone moved from my dining table as a reminder to celebrate or Scream Your Love as the kitschy slogan of that find was. She pairs nicely with the mini pinata as my Mac is the apartment DJ and is always read for a dance party. If you look closely, the notebook (which of course is palm print) is paired with cactus notepaper, where I have boldly written the recipe for my expertly crafted dirty martini. Just add bartender babe to my resume as somehow I have been able to master the most delicious of beverages. Because every girl in her thirties needs a Golden Girls reminder, a mini Sophia figure has made her way to the office space. She carries her purse everywhere which I laugh at because I am the exact same way. Recently, on a home video binge, I caught footage of a 5 year old Tay carrying her caboodle around the house. Hope everyone has a relaxing, festive and star-printed filled 4th!
*This post is dedicated to my grandmother, Mary Lou, who I always think of on this day. To the most generous, sweet and hysterical person I knew, cheers to you & thank you for the crafty genes, memories and the girl boss I've found inside. Comments are closed.
